    My first clone, 603

After the one year and three week wait for the receivers I was able to assemble my first clone last night.

I was unhappy with the aftermarket rear sight so I am waiting for the USGI rear sight to come. Other then that it is complete and functional.

I used a Brownells 20'' 1-12 barrel with a Colt flash hider and lock washer. The furniture is refinished USGI and the receivers and charge handle are from NoDak Spud. The magazine and sling are period correct USGI as well.

The first picture, is the stock really short or is that just an odd view?

It's probably the angle or something, it's a standard A1 stock.

Now you just need to swap out that black anodized receiver extention for a colt, LMT, or Armalite grey-colored one, but other that that - Good Job!

Looks good. I really like your bayonet display. FYI, when you order upper receivers from NDS, you can request that the NDS forge code be removed. They charge an extra $20, but it is worth it. This is especially important if you are building any M16A1 from 1967-1971 or an XM16E1 as these did not have forge code upper receivers. Forge codes did not appear until 1972.

Thank you Sir, I built that display table last year I believe and I absolutely love it. I had planed on building a wall hanging shadow box to display the bayonets but due to the size needed I decided on a table.

That being said I do plan on building a wall hanging shadow box to display the 603 along with other things I have for it.

Good catch, I missed that and will be looking for the correct piece.
