Buying a modern suppressor is all about the mount design IMO. Right now, I believe Surefire, kac, and Dead Air have the best mounts. The Dead Air is very reasonably priced and would be my current choice.

Looking at the YHM mounting system of their Turbo and Resonator, is there anything wrong with it? It looks great from what I can see. Friction lock. No fancy clips or springs or other gizmos that will potentially wear out or gum up with carbon fouling. The wear item is the muzzle brake which is $80 instead of the wear item being the base of the suppressor. I think this mounting method is very solid and well thought out.

    No.

You may find others you like better, but there's nothing wrong with the YHM system. Proven and tested...and unchanged (other than mount aesthetics) for years.

You can get a Sig Sauer SRD762 QD on sale at most dealers right now for under $800. The difference between my SDN6 and the Sig is night and day.
I picked up a SRD762 QD (not TI) back in August for under $700, it's still in jail, but I'm looking forward to bringing it home.

Is the locking ring really even required?

Other taper mount systems like TBAC and Q don't have a locking device.

The taper is the primary locking device. The spring-loading ring is secondary. Not required, but added security.

Did you watch the video in the other thread I posted for you? It shows it working on a cutaway silencer...really neat and easy to observe.
