Simple question.
If you are LEO/military I'm talking about when you are off-duty.
At home
In my automobile
NOT in my home or automobile
While moving from / to my home / automobile

Dont options 3 and 4 cover the same thing?
.
Chances are in bad neighborhoods but you can be there your whole life only to be killed by your neighbo's estranged crackhead kid while living in a gated million dollar community. Just like it happened here last year!

Nope.
"Not in your home or automobile" examples would be; your at work, out for a run/bike ride, at the gym, at the grocery store, etc.
"While moving from to / my home / automobile" examples would be; Coming home in your automobile from work/school/grocery store/gym etc. and arriving
to work/school/grocery store/gym etc. in your automobile.
Arik's crystal ball image probably sums it up succinctly, though.
When I think back on times I drew a gun and/or thought the need for it was about to occur (Never had to fire thankfully) the circumstances were:
-While in my car (attempted car jack) Twice.
-At home (Stranger banging on door late at night, yelling)
-While in a parking lot going to or coming from my car or while getting gas. 4 or 5 times.
-In a restaurant
-Out walking (Dogs). About twice.
So for me, I think transitioning to and from my car are the most dangerous times, followed by being in my car driving/stopped. I always thought being on the receiving end of an armed road-rager would be more likely than an attempted car-jacking. I still think it is.

Most of the things I have seen happen while in a vehicle, moving from vehicle and to it, and while in a public space.
All transitional spaces.
The home can be just as likely though.
Cover it all and always have that pistol, either on your person or within reach.
Once at home, and twice out in public during the L.A. Riots. No shots fired, and no words spoken. The mere presence of a firearm, and I suppose the look on my face, was enough to stop their impending attacks. Changed their minds, they did.
Other than that I go to great lengths to see these things coming and avoid them.
