I always wanted a keymod or mlok platform in a LMT or Knights...Well now that I have one I truly don't know what all the cool kids are using for rail panels. My personal railed rifles all have old school stippled KAC panels because I like the extra grip.. And quite honestly the look. I guess to be perfectly honest I actually like the look overall of the railed mrp's better then the slick ones. Don't get me wrong I think the MLOKs are a league of their own in aesthetics. When you say G10 panels whom are you referring to? I don't mind the ones by strike industries... The magpul ones are butt ugly.

Update. I ordered a MARS-L last week. Had intended on ordering glass but I'm very indecisive in a growing market, so i'll wait and ordered a 308 MWS MLOK upper for my spare parts. I'll order the MARS-H at the end of the month if all goes well...

Now I need two niche optics.

    Cheers
Very nice. My plan is to slowly switch over to MARS lowers. I too really like the stippled KAC panels...cheap, very effective, and great looking. My only complaint about my railed MWS is the large profile of the rail in the hand verses these new school slim rails.

In regards to the G10 covers, they're made by RailScales. After looking at these and others for a week or two, nothing seems to compare to these in form, function, and fit based on the reviews. The price is the only thing that sucks it seems.

They make them in a cheaper polymer version as well....

Lastly, and if you hit the lotto....these are designed with a vfg or handstop in mind. So sleek! The cutout is for their own handstop or VFG.

It's my pleasure friend, as I can't wait to see the rifles you build with all those awesome parts being used. Half the fun is unleashing your own inner skunkworks into these rifles

One year bump. Well here we are almost 1yr later from LMT’s last 12 days of Christmas sale that lead me to go ham and buy an MLR chassis, leading to a MARS-L, MARS-H, and a MWS MLOK upper. Seems like yesterday and I’m still recovering from my unplanned kit corse correction. I still need a 14.5 for my light Reece build and the LMT Black Friday sale was disappointing. Hopefully they’ll have the 12 days sale again catering to my needs and absent of further temptation....

    @ALCOAR
Well, not much progress from our conversation from a year ago because as you’ve seen, the mlr turned into two builds. All updates were posted except I purchased another ATLAS on Black Friday for $165! and some M118LR ammunition. Hoping to get my 5.56 barrel above, possible my 3rd ATLAS and I’m tempted to deviate from my beloved Geissle, and try ML’s, S7 tool steel, MBT triggers for a measly $80.... Still desperately need glass and mounts, but 2019 has been rocky...

How about you? How’s the MLR coming?
    Cheers

    Thank you! You as well.

There is nothing on your rifle that I don’t love. I’d say nice simple set up, but only insofar as purposeful execution towards usage . Beyond that, you have a great deal going on with that setup that flows really, really well.
Just shows how much the industry has evolved since my acquisition of LMT’s 1st MRP chassis. All of my old kit was premium in it’s day and all be it still relevant, modern products have simply gotten better.
Every component on your rifle is Gucci. Picture saved. Definitely gun porn worthy. I will definitely be robbing some of your execution as funds allow.

Hopefully this year I can close some distance between envisioned concepts and reality.

    Thank you for the update!

Haha, great minds think alike and all that. I've been drooling over your MWSs for years now it seems

I really appreciate those kind words, and your description is very much what my goal was. Updated parts without too much going on with the build.

It really is crazy just how far everything has come in just a decade. Like you, this was my first project/AR with updated parts in some time. Seems like by the time you get these things built, new versions of the parts are all ready being rolled out.

Really looking forward to your results, and I know they'll be nothing but the best based on your previous projects. Fingers crossed we score another deal like last year!

Hmmm....I'm thinking of selling my COLT SOCOM in a seller's market, and maybe upgrading to the LMT 5.56. Will keep an eye on the LMT website.

You’d better get on it. Their sale last year was very cheap.

Yeah you likely won't be disappointed, but sometime down the road in maybe a decade you might regret selling a more unique colt. Colt is about the only AR I would say this about, but there is something about Colt that seems to hold value, or increase in time even in the salad days we're currently living in.

I just still kick myself for selling off a 6520 upper, and still haven't found another to replace it with. I'm a LMT man, but there is something alluring about having a Colt or two in the safe.
