I totally get that. This UI would be unacceptable. There is no reason in this day and age to have this type of UI. That light would be replaced.

I have one. It is a great toy for playing with kids, dog at night.

Can't tell you how many lights I like but have bad UI. Some can be swapped out, some not.

What was the original reason light manufacturers started adding strobe on the first place?

It's fun times getting your buddies with it when they least expect it.

    I agree with the OP.

Strobes are for signaling. I have no use for it in a WML or light in my pocket.

Maybe it’s so you can have it for signaling in case your primary light fails? May be grasping at straws, I am sure it’s really just added feature for added cost.

Uh -oh. I can see emasculated fraternities calling for a ban on them now!

Never understood the strobe function either. I've never been in a situation where I needed or even wanted to use a strobe feature. The high/low/5 other settings is pretty useless as well. On and off is all that is needed for me. I'll use a different light if I need to go brighter or dimmer.

It’s all on what you require. I have 3 protac hls. Two are on rifles and are switched to hi/low only. One is on my duty belt and is set to hi/strobe/lo and I use the shit out of strobe when doing stuff around traffic (accident scenes, needing to step out into traffic, walking back to the car after completing a stop, etc)

Saying “useless” should be followed by “to me”...
