Shooting it is what I plan to continue doing. I do have some concern about the scratches though. If it's worst case scenario, and it did scratch into the chrome lining, could that lead to functionality problems down the road as I shoot it more? I'm signed up for a class and plan to take more with it. It's gonna be seeing a lot of ammo going through it.

    Unlikely.

Your rifle is fine. No need to be so anal about the cleaning.

That little scratch mark is nothing to worry about.

Don't worry about it. The chrome is WAY harder than any brass pick. If you're concerned take something like a wood tooth pick and go crosswise on the marks... do feel anything? Plus that area doesn't really have anything to with feeding, just closing the bolt.

I see that the circled marks really have your head spinning. Take something light like Flitz, Mother's polish, Colgate toothpaste, etc and apply to Q-tip. Rub those marks for several seconds and see what happens. If you see progress but not satisfied, repeat. There will be no harm. They'll likely blend into the background nicely. When finished, clean area well and perhaps a very light coat of lube.

Consider this, if the brass pick would damage the chrome, imagine all those brass cases getting slammed into the chrome-lined chamber.

    It's a non-issue.

Now it's the scratches that have my head spinning rather than the marks haha. I now realize that the residue marks are a non-factor. Kicking myself pretty hard right now.
