I don’t know how much substance there is to this train of thought, but I’ve always assumed Vortex is a bigger company and therefore would be more likely to be around longer. Plus I don’t see a problem with exercising some brand loyalty - I have a pair of binos, an LRF, two red dots, and a Razor from Vortex. They treated me well in the past so I’m happy to continue using them as long as they offer something that fulfills my need. Right now I have two Crossfires and plan on a third, all for misc range guns. If they ever make a serious use RDS/holo that doesn’t look like an absolute brick, I’ll look very hard at it. In the meantime one of my other ARs will likely get a Viper 1-6 and at some point I’ll suck it up and get a decent spotter and tripod from them too.
I have both and they are both good to go. Primary arms can use any mount that Aimpoint micros can so you may have an advantage there.
I epoxied a polymer pic rail to the back of my sub 2k and just use an adm qd mount to take it off and mount it to the pic rail so it can fold and be thrown in a bag.
