IMO, the Geissele is the standard by which all others should be measured: truly a well-engineered, beautifully-made mount - as one should expect for the price tag.

True on the lack of info on the DD mount on their website. Though I have not measured it, the height is stated as 1.5 inches on the box, which seems correct to me.

In terms of strength, no doubt something like the Geissele (or Aadmount) would take more abuse before bending or breaking, but the scope would most likely be completely destroyed in that process long before the mount. On the other hand, the lightweight Aero is more like a fuse, perhaps bending or breaking first while saving an optic. Regardless of scope or mount damage, the optical sighting system would most likely be out of commission in either case.

For the 6-ounce scope I'm currently using, the DD seems a good balance of weight, cost and strength. If I was running a 38-ounce Zero Compromise optic I would undoubtedly opt for a more robust mount.

I totally understand that each person is different for what they want in a mount, but what exactly is snagging to it?

Many of the options out there like Geissele / ADM / Larue have knobs / QDs on the left side that are annoying for people using SCARs with a charging handle on that side.

Usually not a big deal on AR15/10s, but I reverse all my ADM mounts to put the lever on the right for use on a SCAR - even with a extended / angle charging handle you can catch your hand on a mounts protrusions.

On to the DD mount, if it had even one fixed recoil lug, I would have been more happy with it and likely used it. But if the photos showed what it is (only 2 screws as lugs), I likely would have never purchased it.

Will it clear a FSB and can you use a non-offset BUIS? Cannot determine from posts or pics I'm finding. Thanks.

I've not measured mine either but 1.5" looks correct when comparing it my 1.93" Geissele and Scalarworks mounts.

With an FSB it is roughly 1/3 lower co-witness.
