"Inertia feed" is a rd. that pops out of magazine/loose, or not controlled by extractor- causing a bitching double feed/jamb.
Okay, gotcha. The slide slams the frame and bounces the round loose.

"Spread"/out of spec feedlips could/would release cartridge too soon going into battery. This could certainly cause jambs/nosedive/stovepipe.
There's a whole list of things that can cause mischief in feeding an autopistol. The thread was centered on the mainspring.
