CAR-type Stocks: What's your favorite and why?

As I work up my C8 build, I notice several names come up pretty consistently for plastic CAR stocks.

Obviously the ideal would be a genuine Canadian Green Diemaco, but that's a little on the difficult side so I'm looking at doing it the same way as the Canucks did in the early move to "green rifles" and rattlecanning, and just as obviously the green recoil pad will be a problem. So, like the title says, for all you Retro/Clone CAR-type builders, between these or other options I haven't listed, what are your favorites and why?

Last I knew Cav Arms wasn't doing much of anything anymore but they do still have a website. I can't vouch for Cav Arms current viability as a business entity or the quality of their furniture, or how close their OD is Canadian OD, but the site does have OD green CAR stocks, grips and skinny CAR handguards listed as selectable color options.

    Pistol grip.

Personally I've been buying the M&A parts CAR stocks. I also have a couple CAR stocks that I got used that are of indeterminate origin. But I use the M&As on my "clones".

TNTE also does skinny HG's, and I have a set of hand-me-down 6-holes in my build-box from a buddy who offloaded me his entire "Island of Misfit Parts" that I'm not sure if they're skinnies or not.

    Another vote for M & A Parts.

I bought one of the Tony's Custom aluminum ones. I got a Brownell's XM177E2 upper and dropped it onto a Colt 6720 lower, and the Tony's stock is what I put on it.

Over the years I've had a few plastic CAR-type stocks, and they all seemed to be wobbly, not snug fitting. The Tony's aluminum one fits really well, nary a wobble.

If you're referring to the Tony's Custom aluminum stock I mentioned above, there is a pic on their website. Looks just like the plastic ones.

    Here ya go:
    https://www.tonyscustomsllc.com/prod...tock-aluminum/

They will sell you the stock by itself for $100.

Since you are using the stock in conjunction with a XM177E2 upper assembly, an aluminum stock is correct, but with a glossy black finish. A fiberlite stock would not have been correct for a XM177E2. Fiberlite stocks first were used on Model 723 and various other models from that time period all the way up to the early M4s.

This stock assembly is original Colt.

I had my buddy Duracoat it, not flat black but not quite as glossy as the one you picture above.....somewhere in-between. However, it still looks good.

The fact that I have it on a Colt 6720 lower kinds blows the "authenticity" though! Then there's the Geissele trigger, chromed bolt (not the carrier though), and 1:7 twist that blows it too. At first glance it still looks like the real deal.
