    Sub 16in barrel: 7.62mm or 6.5mm

In another thread it seemed that some would prefer a 6.5creed or a .260rem in a 13.5-14.5in barrel than a 7.62nato. I was surprised by this and it goes against other opinions I have heard.

What does everyone think about this?

You can if you really want to.

Like I guess if you are messing with vehicles or want a huge suppressor but for regular fart around use....why?

My real question I would have if it were for serious use is what effect it has on the terminal ballistics of 6.5cm. The above article gives you enough info to form your own conclusions in terms of Dope differences b/t barrel lengths. It however says nothing of barrels shorter than 16".

It’s my understanding that with a shorter barrel, the heavier weight bullets get a little wonky. So the Creedmore’s bullet weight may be the key to this issue.

Sub 16 makes ZERO sense for either round. You're robbing the cartridges of too much burn time.

You might want to consider the other 6.5 out there. 6.5 Grendel. Not as fast as a C'moor but short barrels are easy to find, the shorter cartridges use faster powders, and the smaller frame rifle is great for treestand hunting. 123-129 grain bullets out of a 12.5" barrel will hit 2200 fps easily and Nosler 129 gr. ABLR expand down to 1300 fps.

Truth. OP - study the ballistics and you will find that markm is right on the money.
