    Newer IWI Galil Ace, Thoughts?

I was looking into getting an AK, but it seems it's pretty tough to find a good one these days.

Considering I have little experience with AKs, I'm apprehensive about buying one used (where there may be more available).

This lead me to coming across the newer Galil Ace models. I was wondering if anyone had experience with these and if anyone here has put any sort of large round count through one? Do they offer the same type of reliability that an AK is known for? Are there concerns over the polymer "lower" (not sure if there's a better word)?

    Any other thoughts?

I hear they are way over gassed for some reason.

I personally have no interest in them.

Way over gassed... you mean like an AK?

I've only fired the .308 version and was pretty impressed, very reliable and soft shooting. I just wish the handguard was longer. I'll still stick to old school Galil's...

No, they are overgassed more than a standard AK is what I've heard and I believe that actually came from Larry Vickers on one of his videos.

Can you elaborate on your 7.62x39 remark?

    Much. Want.

Beautiful piece. Hey what sling is that? What’s the black tab in front, is it a tightening tab? Tia

I was out with my 7.62x39 last weekend. Although it throws brass pretty far, the operation is very smooth and the quality of the rifle is perfect. It was my first AK and I don't see the need for another with this rifle in the safe, as I also have a Swiss Arms 553R which is just amazing.

People have proven them over-gassed. So either cut them down or regulate the gas with a KNS piston etc

Wish the handguard was longer; say, out to just under where the FSB, is ...
