What markings should a 1911 display if it has been re-arsenaled?
A search showed nothing.
Thanks,

Bottom of page shows a "rebuild stamp"

Thnx, tb-av. My particular Remington Rand has the 'FJA' inspectors mark and the 'P' behind the mag release, and crossed cannons on the right rear of the slide.
Doubtful that any of that means a rebuild.

This has been confusing for me.
I saw that website before, but it talks about arsenal markings, not RE-arsenal markings. (edited to add, "ah, I see there are three examples shown")
I'm trying to find out if a 1943 parkerized 1911 a1 someone I know has was parkerized by the DoD or a private company.

Ron, concur, and I believe I saw you post elsewhere.
Also saw the examples of rearsenal markings; perhaps this thread will attract some additional information.

Here is some good info:

"Re-arsenaled" is not a term. Arsenal rebuild or overhaul would be the correct term.
Normally, the arsenal stamp is going to be on the frame near the trigger guard, but there is not always a stamp applied.
FJA, P and crossed cannons are proof or inspection/acceptance markings applied to the pistol when new.
Of course, 1911's and some A1's were blued, after parkerizing became the finish of choice any 1911 or A1 that needed refinishing would have that done. Also not all rebuilds were done at arsenals, unit direct and general support and depot rebuilds/repairs would be common practice. Arsenal re-builds would mainly be reserved for large groups of arms being prepared for war time issue or storage.

By 1943, all Colt M1911A1s were parked. Bluing stopped around the 736,000 serial number range for Colts.
Ithaca and Remington Rand were still bluing up to and including 1943 though, if I recall correctly.
If a blued pistol went through an arsenal rebuild, it would have been parkerized as part of the rebuild.
But, any bubba could have worked on it between then and now, so no telling who did the re-park if there is no arsenal stamp.
