    Unicorn incoming..Colt WWII Repro

I have been looking for one of these off and on for years...if you don’t know I believe they only made a couple thousand before they killed the program. Friend emailed me a link to listing on GB and tossed out a bid with about 24 hours to go thinking I would get out bid...nope . These make awesome base guns, now what to do with it?

My .02, I would do with it as I did my 1991 S80 .38 Super Auto. Upgrade sights while keeping the old school look [10-8 national match]. Some internal work to aid reliability and any other flaws that may be present in it's build. Mine was otherwise flawless, no problem with extraction or ejection and all it needed was some polishing of the feed ramp and a modest throat polishing. Mags and ammo.
    One man's opinion.

Upgrade it and make it just like every other run of the mill 1911.

Guy at our local gunshow had a specimen that had been beautifully nickeled fer Pete's sake. Go figure.
For the OP, you're stuck with leaving it alone, leaving it stock but shooting it, or modding it. Only the first two make sense to me.
There are lots of ordinary 1911s out there.

Nope. The only thing that separates that pistol from any other pistol is that it's a somewhat rare WWII repro.

Modding it at all will make it just another modded gun. Which are the firearms equivalents of tribal tattoos.

I've the WWI 'black army' version; great trigger, invisible sights. I've shot the crap out of mine, tho' it'll never see a holster.

I hear you on it not ever seeing a holster. Unless it's wintertime or you plan on open-carry a 1911 is far from ideal to take everywhere with you.

I take a 1911 everywhere I'm legally permitted to without any issues.
