Hey - figured you guys would like to have this if you haven't seen it already.

Me and a few pals worked to make a to-spec AR15 in CAD using the original Colt drawings of the M16A1/2 that we got via FOIA. We have included those drawings along with out CAD.
I'm sure you remember the Defense Distributed AR15 assembly being released. Anyone who bothered to open it could see it was horribly modeled, and missing parts.

It doesn't make the AR15 3d-printable (unless you have a DLMS metal printer, then you can go to town), but it does provide a meticulous reference model for the AR15 in 3d CAD. If/when DLMS gets cheaper, this makes the AR15 something that can exist without being a physical gun - there's an AR15 everywhere there's a DLMS printer.
Plus, with the Colt schematics included - anyone with a machine shop can make AR15s/M16s to Colt's specs. This info has been available via FOIA since 1990, but it hasn't been shared online - 200+ pages of drawings of parts, dimensions, materials/heat treating specs, etc.
Enjoy! Let me know if y'all have any questions.
I'll also plug my older projects in the event they haven't popped up here:
An improved version of Defense Distributed's Printable magazine (with proper documentation):

A way to bend your own 30 round AR15 magazine springs:

I'm also working on some Glock stuff now that would let you print a frame and mill metal rails. You can find that stuff on the Twitter I've linked to above.
Cheers!
