That event was before my time, but given the location of the venue it wouldn't surprise me much.

    It's relevant.

Brendan Johnston explained that he couldn’t wrestle them because of his Christian upbringing.

“There is something that I really do find problematic about the idea of wrestling with a girl, and a part of that does come from my faith and my belief,” said Johnston, who identifies as Christian and said he attends the International Anglican Church in Colorado Springs. “And a part of that does come from how I was raised to treat women as well as maybe from different experiences and things.”

See, relative to this particular female wrestler, I'm trying to make sense of that statement from a physiology and physics standpoint and can't. Seems just as likely to me that if she landed with her full weight on your chest/shoulder/neck, you would be in that same world of hurt. Given her record of success wrestling "the boys", I suspect that, unless you're currently a wrestler, she'd kick your ass.

I wrestled in high school too, qualified for the state tournament in Class A. I learned to be very careful and very respectful wrestling anyone that had a record of 23 and 3.

I'm in my 30s, so obviously not a current wrestler. However, I'd absolutely love the challenge, and would have no problem accepting defeat.

I guess in your world, and with your great knowledge of physiology you'll know then that male strength is different then female strength pound for pound. Could she generate the same hip snap speed as my hips, how about can her entire upper muscular system generate the same force as mine can? Are you just judging this contest by weight alone? Do you think women and men have equal strength pound for pound?

Here's what Greg Nuckols has to say:

Women lift about 67% as much as men in the squat, 56% in the bench, and 71% in the deadlift, on average (using allometric scaling to correct for differences in body mass). However, those gaps are larger when looking at less successful lifters (those in the 10th percentile of relative strength) and smaller when looking at more successful lifters (those in the 90th percentile of relative strength). A 5th percentile woman has about 62% as much relative strength as a 5th percentile man in the squat, 53% in the bench, and 67% in the deadlift. On the other hand, a 95th percentile woman has about 71% as much relative strength as a 95th percentile man in the squat, 60% in the bench, and 75% in the deadlift.

Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors, Marine, Police Officers, Martial Artists, etc all face situations where they have to face off against the opposite sex in wrestling/combat/grappling/DTAC/etc. Eventually, you have get over it and just do.

The whole, "I wouldn't be able to control my urges" is nonsense.

    It's business.

Sure. With my great knowledge of physiology, I know that, in general, women have less muscle mass, pound for pound, than men. I also know that, in general, women don't compete in sports like wrestling, and when they do, don't compete against men, and when they do, are not likely to be successful. She wrestles, and she successfully competes against men, so she's already proven to be an outlier. So, this particular wrestler with her longstanding record of success against men, and without any knowledge of what a manly he-man you really are (on the internet, we can all be manly he-men)...yeah...I'm going to play the odds and bet in favor of her kicking your ass on the mat.
