Yep. In a lot of those countries, especially Scandinavia, while it's true that taxes are higher, one can still can make a profit; there's still an incentive to earn to money and not just rely on others. Higher skilled jobs do pay more there, and the more you do, the more you earn. That's not socialism, that's capitalism.

As jsbhike said, we don't have a true capitalist system; we have a crony capitalist economy, which is, in fact, mostly just socialism masquerading as capitalism. Politicians make sure that companies they either own, have stock in, sit on a board for, or who contribute to their campaigns control the economy, set prices, stamp out competition, and even force people to buy their services.

No, capitalism is voluntary transactions, period. I have a dollar. You have a pencil. I want the pencil more than I want the dollar and vice versa. We agree to exchange the dollar for the pencil. I haven’t met your daughter, but I’m sure she is a fine young lady.

Socialism is involuntary transactions. You make what and how the government tells you to make and for what price. No exchange of value, hence the reason it always fails.

Capitalism’s greatest benefit is also its greatest flaw: You can buy and sell anything.

And as is always the case, those with the greatest majority of something also determines its worth and value.

Never never never confuse mercantilism with Capitalism. Because you are trading a government with a bank.

The government may enslave and kill you. The bank just hires people to do that for them.

I am far, far, far from anything resembling a Socialist, but when it comes to corporatism; damn right I am putting on OG-107s and hiding in hills with AR-10s and latina contras.

Because you never actually own anything anymore. You buy a house because you don’t like paying rent but then you get to pay property taxes.

Wee. All because the government, your government, owes private individuals simply because they have more money through manipulation of credit and capital.

That's the crony capitalism thing, which isn't capitalism at all.

I honestly think crony capitalism is a large part of the attraction to leftist causes. Way, way, way too many people who fly the conservative flag refer to crony capitalism as being free market as do leftists. One side claims anyone calling it a sham is just jealous and lazy while the other side claims they will fix it which has been proven to be false also.

“Biy that’s crony capitalism” sounds exactly like “nobody has tried REAL Socialism/Communism yet”
