All that mass is good for reliability.
Adjusting the gas down should smooth it out quite a bit.

Lightweight carriers, etc. are used in gaming guns for the benefits that lower reciprocating mass offer, but not for serious use guns where the benefits of proper reciprocating mass are necessary for reliable function in suboptimal conditions.

Investigate "constant recoil" (the carrier starts the return stroke before striking the back of the receiver) and look for high speed video footage. Compare that with high speed footage of a normal rifle being fired. You'll find a very large percentage of the recoil occurs when the carrier strikes the rear of the receiver.
