300BLK max "reasonable" range?

My 9" BCM Barrel shoots Hornady black box 110 V-max at just over 2100 ft secs. My Win 296 load pushes the same bullet to 2240. Furthest coyote so far about 130 yards drt 1 round.

5.56 is perfectly suitable for home defense from a 11.3” barrel. So is .300, of course.

Yes, but when I say "home defense" I don't just mean my house hold. I mean my home as in wherever I'm at. My "home town", my "camp sight"... I'll not utilize my SBR at long range, but I will expect it to reach out to 100 to 150 yds. The .300 could fair better at 150, or at 200 should I push it, than the 5.56 would out of a short barrel. I know the 5.56 would do the job at 150 or 200 yds easy, but the .300 would give me a little bit of an edge over the 5.56 because of the short barrel, so I went with it. It's a case of not a whole lot better... but better.

My SBR is 11.3" .300 Blackout, and I shoot the 110 gr Vortx. Good combo, but I'd still not push it beyond the 150 -200 yd mark.

My pistol is a 10.5" 5.56. Same story, I'd not push it far. Probably 150 yds. I want to try out the Hornady 77 gr TAP SBR load here soon. See if it's worth it.

In either case, I would be hard pressed to even pick up targets at over 150 or 200 yds as I'm only using red dots sights, and my eyes are rapidly failing me anyway.

From what I’m reading, if I wanted a pistol that would be a home defense gun with a suppressor (eventually) and sparingly be used to hunt feral hogs/whitetail with supers at ranges of 50-100 yards with a max of ~150 yards would a barrel length of 9 inches be a viable choice? It almost sounds like to be an effective hunting gun it should have a 16” barrel, as indicated in an earlier post.
Or am I thinking of this incorrectly? If hunting is the purpose go with a dedicated 16” and for home defense use the sorter 9-12” barrels with a suppressor?

No reason to have a 16" 300. 9" is fine for hunting.
