Send it to Robar.
Glad that you've got your Christine back! Hope that Wilson takes care of her on the refinish and appeases her Machine Spirit.
" Nil desperandum - Never Despair. That is a motto for you and me. All are not dead; and where there is a spark of patriotic fire, we will rekindle it. "
- Samuel Adams -
If you do it yourself, don’t use steel wool. It will scratch the bluing. Use bronze wool from Brownells or Midway and kroil. I I used this technique on many ww2 collectible firearms where altering original finish hurts value. This will safely remove the surface rust without damaging the finish. The trick is light pressure and keep it wet with kroil.
I personally would clean it this way, use it for awhile then send it to a smith of your choice for a refinish and maybe some updates.
congratulations on getting her back
Send it back to the mothership and have them cleanse her. I think you would be amazed what she comes back as.
I say send it to Wilson.
I know a guy at Wilson if you need me to help. I guess the blued didn't stand a chance with the Warner Robins street thugs.
Glad you got it back, it's a miracle.
The wisest route would be letting Wilson have a crack at it, they maybe able to absorb some of the cost. Sending it to a third party is going to be very expensive.
Although I'm leery to keep it due to its track record. I'd have Wilson bring it back to a serviceable condition, then sell it. Bad juju.
Riots are like sports, it's better to watch it on TV at home.
Have to agree with a number of posters. Call Wilson's and send them pictures. Glad you got it back.
cool story, glad you got it back. can't wait to see it restored!
