Scar is a great rifle I’m sure, I have had a hard time justifying to myself the price of one, especially since I would want to change out the stock, lower (to accept SR-25) and put a different trigger in it. Basically amounts to another $1,000 over the $2900 of the gun.

Where are you seeing MWS around $2000? I’m looking and seeing around $2800 for the standard quradrail and about $3300 with an 18 inch ss barrel. Appreciate the lead. I’m going to pull the trigger on MWS when I find a good deal

I would look into a used MWS, might find a deal. I went MWS, I really don’t like the recoil impulse of the Scars, neither do a variety of optics. Both are great weapons.

I looked forever for a new MWS cheaper than my LGS which has the slick sides at $2899. I missed on the green overruns thinking I had to get my LGS to order it and I also waited too long on the $2300 sale at Kentucky gun co. I was patient on gunbroker and picked this one up for $2000.

The msrp is 2299 ordering direct from LMT. Around 2000 at lmt dealers.

The South Americans were sold for 1800 I believe.

When I bought my SCAR 17 5+ years ago, weight & ease of SBR / Suppression were a big deal to me, so I chose it over the MWS (which I strongly considered).

At the time I made the right call, considering what was / wasn't available and what I wanted it to do.

Now there seems to be more options with the LMT MWS, slick side uppers, lighter weight barrels, etc so it would be a much closer decision now and I would likely go with LMT, esp consider SCARs go for nearly $3K and LMTs are in the low $2Ks.

But for my use, I can rarely shoot beyond 200 yards so a SBR, suppressed with a lightweight optic is what I want. While there are plenty of SCAR haters, it does a good job of that, albeit for a high price (I bought mine for $2500 back in the day).
