The Cathedral of Notre-Dame is burning.

This is a tragedy of epic proportions.

Looks to be caused by some of the repairs being done.

Yeah this is more than likely going to be an epic loss of history.

    That looks really not good.

It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

Yeah. Spire is completely gone now. I just saw someone say the entire building is engulfed now and that it is going to be a total loss.

Maybe I am a bad person, but this bothers me as much of maybe more than if there had been another major terrorist attack.

It's gone. Way past the point of no return now. This is so sad. I've seen it. It's a true piece of history. You don't get any more "historic" than this place.

Same. This is a totally different type of tragedy.

This is horrible. Not just for Paris or France, but for the world. It doesn't matter if you're Catholic or not, it's a piece of world history. Ironic how it survived to world wars and is being burned down by a construction accident. I hope they can save it or what is left.

Riots are like sports, it's better to watch it on TV at home.

Doesn't matter. A title company I work with sometimes had a similar situation happen a couple years ago. Construction in the office next to them caused a fire. But the fire didn't start until the middle of the night. Electricity, heaters, chemicals, pick your poison. The fact is that something happening during work hours would probably not have caused a bad fire because people would have seen it and stopped it.

Exactly. I don't hide my dislike of religion, but something like this is a loss for all humanity, Catholic, Muslim, atheist, it doesn't matter. A piece of our history gone in the blink of an eye.
