    Goofy question SA finish

I have an old TRP, maybe 12 ish years ago I bought a TRP. It has 7-10K rounds through it. The finish is the old finish and very good. What was their old finish and what is their new finish? Dont really care but curious. I also feel like this TRP was made with extra care. The gun was and is very very tight even after all these rounds. It has impressed me.

I just looked at the finish and it made me wonder.

I want to say Armory Kote as I don’t believe the Black T finish made it to the factory line guns.

It is more shiny than their current black guns. Isn't that coat more Matt finished

My CRG got Armory Kote when it went to SACS a few years ago. I was thoroughly unimpressed. The new Black T on my RO Elite is far superior and my favorite handgun as far as finish goes. The Kote scratched fairly easily and had weird inconsistencies in it, kind of like a not-so-great paintjob. The Black T is glossy, but super slick to the touch (feels fancy though, not like a Gen 4 Glock slick), but is completely even and looks much more like it is a part of the metal as opposed to a coating on top of it.

what was the coating they used before their current dull / Matt finish. It was also before they had the Laser like etching for the words on the side 1911 A1 .....

Unknown. I was dabbling in SA 1911s during the time frame being discussed. I’m not sure what they were doing previously.

    Thumbs up

My 1995 Mil-Spec was parked (cerakoted NOW), and while I've NO idea what this is on my new LW Operator... I LIKE it!

    my 2008 MCOP has AK.

Mine has held up decent for rough 12K+

The lower was refinished in 2011 for all OD.
