The Brownell's retro parts are fine. The receivers are NoDak Spud forgings machined by AeroPrecision. I forget who makes the barrels, but I recall that they are a reputable maker. No idea who makes the small parts, especially the retro small parts.

Ballistic Advantage does the 5.56 Retro barrels. Faxon makes the .308 BRN-10 barrels.

Faxon does chrome lined barrels? I thought all their stuff was QPQ/nitride.

    Update:

Recall that the $1299 rifle was on sale for $899. I ordered it at that price. Next day they put it on sale for another 10% off. I emailed them asking if they'd credit me the 10% since I missed the sale by 1 day. I certainly had no claim.

They just responded with the next best thing. $90 off next purchase. Which I will use sooner or later.

    Hats off to Brownells!

Years ago I tended to buy from Midway way more than Brownells, in the last few years that situation has reversed.

Same here. I very seldom ever buy from Midway anymore.
