Whats your favorite HK94/MP5/Mp5K/Clone etc Lower / grip?

I'm barely literate about these things but appears there are about three major types of lower / grip assembly, right?

I was surprised that a quick internet search didn't pull up a "HK94 / Mp5 grip housing FAQ" right away.

I've only owned a few G3 -type rifles.

I like the looks and feel of the older-style steel lower assembly.

What are the pro's and cons of each style?

    I'm asking in reference to semi-auto pistols / SBR's / Rifles.

Yep, I'm partial to the steel "G3" SEF lowers.

Most MP5s came from the factory with plastic SEF lowers which I hate the most. The selector is so tight it can take a couple thumbs to move it from one position to the other. Seen a lot of them where the detent has been mostly ground down.

Picto lowers were a big improvement and came with 2 round and 3 round burst options but they can be complicated to break down and detail clean. But given that they added an ambi selector and burst options to an existing design, I guess it has to be expected that it might be more moving parts.

But I started with 90 series guns back in 83 and eventually obtained factory G3s, 33s and MP5s so I'm really most comfortable with steel lowers.

I like the current ambi "Navy"-type lowers.

I eagerly await the release of the Magpul trigger housing and anticipate it being the most bestest thing to happen to an MP5 since Die Hard.

I'm a lefty and find the old plastic SEF housings uncomfortable because of the thumb rest on the left side, so I prefer aftermarket 'Navy style' ambi housings like this one: https://www.hkparts.net/shop/pc/MP5K...-142p16443.htm
Combined with this ambi safety: https://www.hkparts.net/shop/pc/SEF-...-143p18065.htm

I also have the 0,1 ambi Navy group but that was more expensive, and I wish they made a longer right side lever for lefties.

I'm a south paw and don't like the sef lowers with the finger groove in them(both the metal ones and the plastic ones). The later smooth sef lowers are not bad but honestly I prefer the ambi ones. I have a registered sear and have it in an ambi burst pack. All of my hosts have the ambi trigger housings for that reason.

Navy Ambi. Much better ergonomics than any SEF housing I’ve tried.

    I'm already confused.

Which are SEF? Is there really a "Navy" style? Does only the steel lower have the thumb rest?
