    LPVO for .308 AR?

Looking for a LPVO with a BDC synced for M80 type ammo. Thoughts?

I’m betting the universal answer will be ATACR 1-8x. Unfortunately, the civilian version has an mrad reticle and you want a BDC.

I think Primary Arms makes a version of their ACSS reticle for 7.62x51/.308. The manual shows the BDC system is synced for M80 147gr ball, and how to sight in for that ammo.

I have the Primary Arms Platinum 1-8 with the ACSS reticle, and it's an awesome LPVO, albeit a bit heavy.

Their lower cost 1-6 and 1-8 LPVOs with ACSS are also good quality for the price, if you want to stay under $400.

Steiner m5, I think it is, has what you seek.

There are many good optics. I have a Leupold VX-6 with the CMR-2 reticle and Bushnell 1-6.5 SMRS with the BTR-1 BDC reticle. The rest of mine are 1-4x. Both of the above have reticles that work well with M80, and I have been very satisfied with them. Shameless plug I have an extra NIB Bushnell 1-6.5 hanging around.

If you want to spend some bucks the Leupold MK6 or CQBSS are also awesome, as is the Nightforce 1-8.

Even just 5 years ago, there were not nearly as many good LPVO choices. Now there are many more and they are much better developed in terms of reticle and features.

This page has most LPVOs and their reticles.

Search for 308, 762, 7.62. None will be perfect (MV and air density varies). There are also generic BDC, MOA-hash, and Mil-hash reticles that you can use with a DOPE card. Some have exposed BDC turrets (dial your range). Some have exposed MOA or Mil turrets where you dial range from a DOPE card.

    Budget? Mag range?

I had a VCOG on my M&P10 and liked it, but traded for an RS27 Accupower 1-8x28 and I think that I like the Accupower a little more, though it's really freaking heavy.
I haven't shot it yet, looking forward to.

Steiner bdc works well for m80, even the 223 bdc. I temporarily used the military 1-4x with 223 box on a LMT MWS and worked well out to 550. You may also consider a mil-based reticle instead of a bdc. Figure out the dope for your preferred load.
