This is from the Army's 2020 budget proposal. I thought it interesting that royalty payments to Colt are listed. I'm guessing that these amounts are just a drop in the bucket financially to Colt?

$268,000 to Colt (in 2020 only) for any second-party manufacturer (FN, and I believe SANCOLMAR for replacement receivers, etc.).
Over the life-span of M16A2, A4, and M4s (annually since at least 1994) that's still a lot of real money.
