8 months of observations working at gun shop/in-door range.

    1. We fix a lot of "broken" firearms with cleaning and lubrication.
    2. The uneducated shoot better than the self learners.
    3. Old men have no trigger finger discipline. ("I survived, let's see if you can." Jerry Seinfeld)
    4. I thought I'd heard all the myths then I was told this, "Don't worry, I won't dry fire it and crystallize the firing pin."
    5. I'm surprised how many regular shooters, even Police, have terrible sight alignment and shoot too high.
    6. I'm surprised by how many people expect me to know the most obscure facts about every firearm ever made.
    7. I'm pleasantly surprised that we've only banned one person, and have not had any NDs.
    8. I'm pleasantly surprised by how many young men are into WWII firearms. (Video games have made them popular with the youth.)
    9. Hobby ARs deserve their reputation.

It's been a great experience, and I've learned so much; especially about how to teach people to shoot and handle firearms.

It took about 6 months of brutal beatings to get me to stop saying "weapon."

BUt I'm quitting in a few months to be an Army JROTC instructor at a high school with 400 Cadets. God help me.

Search "True Tales of the FFL" on TOS.

Having been a board member, the president and the chief RSO of my non-profit gun range, I could not agree more. There are some really great people involved with shooting, but holy cow are there some folks that ruin it for the rest of the world. Whiners, conspiracy theorists, and know-it-alls are soul sucking.

Had to forward this to my new FFL.
You really have to ask why Conservatives have guns? Because Liberals block freeways, burn cities, throw Molotov cocktails, loot, turn over cop cars, and think this behavior is Socially Acceptable.

So....does the firing pin crystallize or not? I need to know!!!

I never worked in one but the best I heard was ...7.62x39 is not powerful enough! That's it! No mention of what....T-Rex? Bugs Bunny? Just in general not powerful enough!

Yeah, but it was created so they could shoot our M16 ammo, but we couldn't shoot theirs.
The simple fact of the matter is this, America has never not been great.

I can remember the decade when 90% of everything I heard was nearly verbatim from "Tales of the Gun" on the History Channel. Only rather than say that is where they learned it, the shared the information as if it was personal experience. I think I met almost 500 gun owners who were in Vietnam and kept a rusty AK-47 in their locker and even though the bolt was fused shut, they would just kick it open with their boot, shoot the crap out of it and put it back in the locker, just like the guy from Jane's Defense.

Then there were the golden oldies that never seemed to go away...

File down the sear to make it full auto, apparently this worked regardless of the firearm in question.
AK-47s could chamber and fire both AK-47 ammo AND M-16 ammo which is why they won the war.
Potatoes make effective silencers and this is where the term "spud gun" came from.
Mattel made M-16s during the war.
and the various miracles that can be achieved with nothing more than the sound of a pump action shotgun being racked, because you always go into a potentially life or death situation with an empty chamber.
