Still Bush would not be welcome in my gunstore but I would lose my FFL over AOC. Don’t care. But she would Lord of War me though because she wouldn’t deign let her husband/baby daddy be in Jail

We’ve had this discussion, doc. Many times.

Interesting bit a trivia, USMC aviator Walter Harris was one of those WWII vets recalled to active duty and sent to hold the line in Korea. He was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States while serving as a Prisoner of War in Korea from 6 May 1952 through 6 September 1953.

You may have heard of his daughter, Emmylou Harris.

If he had only hit Ho Chi Mihn Park in Berkeley ONE TIME he'd have earned the DFC.

Not me, brother. It was the mid 90s when I was a late teen. I was already fully into only having Colt AR (6551 blue label...why did I get rid of that), swapped out for a 6721 upper, Colt M4 stock. And mini ACOG. I was jonesing for a Steyr AUG-P 16” and a SIG 551, but could not swing those. And I was jonesing for transferable MGs - desperately wanted a SMG spec UZI, Colt M16, and a RRPP MP5 - also couldn’t swing those.

Had a Colt SP1 carbine, HK91 and HK93 when I was in high school. Doesn't mean I still didn't believe some dumb shit, usually something heard somewhere else that I simply parroted without giving it any real thought or doing my own investigation.

I grew up reading SOF and books by Ezell, but other than knowing gun tech stuff I still believed lots of "Man, when we were back in Nam..." nonsense.

136th Tactical Fighter Squadron, New York ANG
188th Tactical Fighter Squadron, New Mexico ANG

These Air Guard squadrons were all activated and served year long tours in Viet Nam flying F-100s. They flew a combined 24,124 combat sorties and accumulated 38,614 combat flying hours.
    I stand corrected, thank you.

I knew that several Guard/Reserve units were activated for VN: Of the estimated seventy-six ARNG units called up to active duty, only eight units and 2,729 soldiers served in Vietnam, including Alabama’s 650th Medical Detachment; Idaho’s 116th Engineer Battalion (Combat); New Hampshire’s 3d Battalion, 197th Artillery; Kentucky’s 2d Battalion, 138th Artillery; and Indiana’s Company D (Ranger), 151st Infantry Regiment.

They left out the 69th Infantry Brigade, KSARNG, which was activated and sent to Ft Carson where they unit was piece-mealed feeding replacements to units in VN. I actually served in the Reserves, circa 1991 with a former member of that unit. He was recipient of a PH, BS and a direct commission. He got out as a Captain. When I met Greg, he was a MSG in the reserve, we taught ANCOC together.
