    RMR auto brightness

I have a type1 RMR06 I purchased right when the type2 came out. It has the auto-brightness feature.
    I just picked up a 2nd RMR, type 2.

    Both have 3.25moa dots.

Ive never had issues, and carried the type1 with confidence on auto-adjust mode.
The type2 does not auto-adjust as bright.

I never understood the hesitation for auto-adjust as my type1 was always at the optimal setting and only washed out when in a dark area pointed directly at a lightbulb. However, the type2 washes out more frequently, and I now set it at the midpoint.

Any idea why the difference? Im in the middle of competitions and dont want to change batteries- could that be the cause?

    Below is a side-by-side.

    RMR auto brightness

The main complaint I’ve heard is they wash out in low light or no light situations when activating a weapon light. Probably not ideal if needed in self defense.

Not sure it this is the same issue that I am having, but..

I strongly prefer type 1, and none of mine has given me a problem, for carry because of absence of that stupid (IMO) battery saver function of type 2 that puts the device into auto-brightness mode after 16 hours. I think that Trij' auto brightness sucks. I can be standing literally in one spot with my type 2 and it would change the dot intensity depending on the direction I am pointing to, if light is different in those corners. Type 1 stay where I left it.

    ^same.
It seems the type 1 favors the brighter setting, where the type 2 favors the dimmer. The type 1 is often 1 or 2 settings higher.

    RMR auto brightness

Interesting, I didn’t know any Type 1 RM06s had the auto adjust implemented.

I dont know if it does. The brightness on mine, and I've two, seems to stay where I left it. Which leads to a huge dot with halo at the night time, which is better to me than washout of type 2 on auto adjust.

The RMR06/07 do not auto bright. Manual up/down
RMR01/02 are LED auto adjust no buttons on the sides

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

The last thing I want to do is hurt you,
but it's still on my list.

I have a type1 rmr06 with auto adjust option, with buttons on the side.
I believe it was an in-between setup - like a type 1.5. It does not automatically go to auto like the type2, though you can lock out the auto if you want on the type2.
