It doesn't matter if they build for gov or not. Gov has a set of standards for their needs. Outside of that the gov don't care what else that manufacturer makes.

Barrel makers simply build barrels to the specs of their clients

More than a few knowledgeable people have done this one to death. Feel free to use the search feature and disagree with them.

They got them wrong when they made barrels for the Tantals. It was the great keyholing event. One can easily look it up as well. For me, just wasn't worth the effort to bother with a US made 922r barrel that already had a questionable track record when other options existed.

I'd like to throw a FEG 2019 produced SA85mP that is awaiting ATF approval ...

We made 250 of them to get into the market

You're a little bit late to the dance if you check the dates.

Their prices have already taken up most of the upside potential. B&T offerings are not limited, so that will keep them from increasing in value. SAN's offerings are at least limited, but they're even more expensive. I totally agree with you about Colt AR's and ammunition.
Our Colt value prediction came true in the worst and stupidest short-term way. It'll settle back down, though.

As I watched AK values climb I began ordering parts kits and either bought or made tools and started building my own. I couldn’t stomach dropping the coin for what they’re going for nowadays after seeing them cheap for so many years. I think I enjoy building them as much as shooting them anymore.
