STOP ASKING FOR CLARIFICATION FROM THE ATF

Looks like the ATF is no longer considering a brace a permanent part of the rifle and doesn’t not contribute to OAL. Guys with pistol braces and VFG’s may want to remeasure your firearms to make sure you haven’t constructed an AOW.

We’re not alone, but the gun community has some stupid MFers. I really think that one day they’ll end up just like bump stocks. That’s why, even though I’d love some 11.5s, I want solid primary and secondary 16” rifles for my wife and I before I venture down that road.

Now I wonder if this negates the LOP mandate of no more than 13.5". I know that without a limiter, the A5 receiver extension with brace fully extended exceeds this.

Oh, in case you guys are wondering "wtf does that have to do with this?", the other "pistol" measurement is Length of Pull related to the brace fully extended. If this no longer applies, do A5 users now have a leg up on using an even shorter barrel, like a 10.5", and still meet the minimum OAL?

Same here, Euro, but I was at a carbine class recently that consisted primarily of local and state LE. While no one really batted an eye at my "firearm", and it was a great time had by all, I kinda had that sinking feeling that maybe it wasn't worth the hassle bringing it. I guess if I never brought it outdoors, I could probably toss a real stock on there. It would probably be about the same amount of time in the slammer as one of these stupid measurement violations.

Then stocks aren’t permanent either therefore SBRs don’t really exist
