It's Time to Break Up Facebook.

Read this last night. Not a quick read, but an interesting proposal, which touches on the resurgence of private sector monopolies and their potential long term impact, calling for increased regulation of the tech industry.

I am 100,000% against censorship, and all the social media outlets of late are morphing into tools of the left. They are censoring, banning, blacklisting, and in general doing anything to hamper the free speech of conservatives. Having said that, Facebook is a private entity and as such they should have as much access to the free market as they can grab. The way to fight Facecrook and all these other outlets is to start conservative alternatives and let the market decide. Just like conservatives rule talk radio, liberals rule internet social media. That's just the way it is.

Although I'd love to watch Mark Zuckerberg be boiled in oil, I can't honestly say that as a private entity he doesn't have the right to ban who he wants, just like our favorite gun forums have a right to ban who they want.

Once an outside organization starts telling them what to do, guess what, that same entity will end up telling us all what to do.

But it's only a one way street. Private company free to do what it wants should be for both Facebook AND a baker or Chick-fil-A or anyone else.

Agree 100%. I just don't want to see the government telling ANYONE what to do or say as far as free speech goes.

Here's how I look at it (just as an example): If they can ban XXX hardcore porn then they can ban the Bible. Once you start "regulating" then it's self-perpetuating.

If you're going to force Facebook to share certain points of view, then...

You're going to have to force the newspapers to share certain points of view.

You're going to have to force internet forums (like this one) share certain points of view.

Points of view the owners of Facebook, newspapers, internet forums (like this one) don't want to have to pay to share. And the brilliant idea is to use the force of government to make these people (which includes you, by the way, because the money to enforce it will come from your tax dollars) share points of view they disagree with or otherwise find objectionable?

Cool. What's next? A requirement that you spend x amount of time in a week or a day viewing content that shares a certain point of view?

Fakebook has a monopoly. They are censoring speech and that is proof they have a monopoly. Break them up. Also, break up the Google/youtube monopoly, censorship and strangle-hold on free speech. Just because they are not government agencies does not mean we cannot step in if they have a monopoly and impose censorship.

Trump just needs to write an EO that adds ‘political affiliations’ to anti discrimination laws.

A conservative alternative would crush FAZEbook in 6 mos.

FB is much closer to the telephone than a newspaper. Let's try to be a bit more honest in comparisons.

Can you imagine how much sooner Ma Bell would have been broken up if they were blacklisting people from a phone?

If that were true, it would already be happening or have happened. Facebook is a gigantic cash cow.

MeWe exists, supposedly no tracking of your data, no censorship, etc. Local guys use it in my area to sell guns and gun parts. It's clunky and it sucks.
