Not saying it would matter much but the lower isn’t an MR556 or 416 lower.

Their tests seem to indicate that AR-pattern rifles are more resilient in the face of mud and sand then popular urban legend would have us think, as ARs have typically performed very well in their tests....but I also think that if you test enough ARs in the mud, eventually one is going to fail because there's no way of consistently controlling and repeating exactly where the mud goes into each individual weapon and how much gets in. I dunno as the MR556 being a piston gun had much, if anything to do with it.

Obviously once crud gets in the chamber or locking surfaces it is game over till cleaned. The tests just show most claims about reliability are not based on actual observations.

That. I want to see a firearm test where a weapon is completely submerged in Quick Crete for an hour and then successfully fired. Until that time, all firearms are useless junk.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

I would add that it must first be submerged in saltwater, then sprayed with saltwater continuously for a month, then frozen to -50F and tossed off a building five times, then submerged in the quickcrete for an hour. All with a round chambered, of course.
