    Strange .45 round.

    Anyone seen this before? Supposedly a military round with embedded primer to pop a hole in a windshield to allow for easier penetration.
    7 of them taken out of a 30 year old surplus 1911.

    30 years isn't a very early 1911. Hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like a cast bullet... which would defeat the barrier penetration logic (in my estimation).

    Looks like hill billy attempt at an exploding bullet if that is indeed a primer.

    In the 70's there was a company Velux or some such that sold a 10 pack of bullets they were jacketed hollow points with an embedded primer.
    They weren't advertised for barrier penetration rather anti personnel rounds.

    One of our collectors just came in and claims to have an old box of these rounds.
