    Noveske Gas Block Pin

What pin is needed for the Noveske GB?

I got a new Noveske barrel, and the GB has a set screw and is drilled for one pin to be used. it did not come with that pin; however, and i can't seem to find one that works. i tried a standard taper pin and a LMT straight pin.

    TIA

What did Noveske say when you called them?

    You DID call them right?

i'm trying to call them now. phones were busy the last time.

i started this last night after work. by that time it was late into the night on CONUS (i'm in Hawaii). i'll keep trying the phone. the last time i sent them an e-mail question about a barrel, they took over two weeks to respond.

ok, case closed. i got them on the phone and they said it's a straight 1/8" dowel pin.

    Just an FYI....

After finding it nearly impossible to get the supplied dowel pin completely seated through my gas block and not wanting to pound on it any harder and possibly damage the barrel, I found that a standard trigger guard roll-pin fits perfectly & holds the gas block securely in place.

Earlier Noveske barrels used a taper pin to secure the gas block. The latest barrel I have on hand came with the straight pin securing the gas block. The pin was a major pain in the a$$ to get out. I finally had to make a relief cut through the gas block (thus trashing the gas block) and part of the straight pin to get the straight pin out. I currently own 4 Noveske barrels and have a 5th on the way, but I sure wish he would have stayed with the taper pin format.

My Noveske Afghan came with the gas block removed. I would ask them to send yours with the pin & gas block removed. Then you can decide whether you want to pound on the pin to get it completely seated, or use a trigger guard roll-pin instead.

Hmm, I just got my noveske barrel. Will you really harm the barrel trying to get the pin hammered in?

i dont see how.. if you have it seated/clamped firmly to your work bench, you'd need a wrecking ball to hurt even a pencil barrel
