I'm curious as to how you know these are "commercial spec" gas ports.

Regarding a box, do people really care or keep that junk?

I know it's not a "where to buy" post, but save yourself $200

EDIT: I see now that these are 11.5" guns.

I agree. If you are going to roll the dice do it with as little coin on the table as possible.

Except for the gas port, people who shoot their guns don't care about these things.

Seems a little high to me. Brownells is showing complete MK18 uppers for about $1,100, but out of stock... but if they are getting re-supplied from time to time, Brownells is pretty fast and loose with sales and discount codes.

They have the DD mk18 uppers on sale fairly often for like $700 or less

$1200 seems high for a used one. I paid $1400 in 2016 for my new one in FDE from Grant.

    Lmfao!

A guy who never takes pictures of boxes would say this!

So when I see stuff like Sig P320s, or DD Mk18s, being sold as "police trade ins" there's a part of me that thinks that if guns this "new" are being traded in, they must have been found unsatisfactory in some way by the agency. Im not plugged into how law enforcement weapons procurement and replacement works though so I could be way off base.
In most cases, I 100% agree with you. These particular rifles were originally purchased in the Summer of 2012. They were employed by 2 units within the agency. In 2016, they changed their policy so that every agent was to be issued a rifle instead of a shotgun. When that happened, they traded in all current rifles and shotguns in favor for new DD SBRs.
