This thread is tempting ... dangerously tempting. God bless all who defended our freedoms with this "old school" AR. I pity those who have never experienced a full length gas system in an AR platform, as Saint Stoner designed it, well...at least when it was moved to the 5.56 platform. Big fan of the AR-10 here.

Interesting thought...what if our troops in WWII were equipped with the AR-15/M16 with the ACOG.

It would have radically altered infantry tactics. Ammo consumption would have at least tripled, GIs would have to maneuver around obstacles they simply shot through with the Garand and they might have found the ACOG too much magnification as they really fought close in against the Germans. But the added volume of fire would have been of great assistance in suppressing German machineguns.

I know that we're only halfway through 2019, and the general election is still way off, but I figured I'd start buying any AR that I really wanted "just in case". Same with mags.

A better comparison might be an AR-10 built up like a "Big Brother A4" and chambered/gas-tuned for .30-06 AP M1 Ball.
