Duty Ammunition, If Given A Choice.....

    Federal HST 147 Grain

Hornady Critical Duty 135 Grain +P

Speer Gold Dot 124 Grain +P

    Federal HST 124 Grain

You’ll be around vehicles all day, barriers which are typical to being on the road performing police duties etc...

    Which do you choose?

All good stuff I stuff in my guns. Most think the critical duty has the edge as is the price. Somebody can send you the chart from Molon I think did it. But everything here is OK. Winchester white box Hollow point, not so much.

    PB

Whichever generates the least recoil, so I can shoot it faster if need be.

147gr hst based on docgkr recommendations and history.
Its been very reliable and accurate for me, and I like to shoot subsonic suppressed on occasion.

Honestly, between the 147 and 124 golddot or hst- I dont think there will be any noticable difference.
Im starting to favor recoil characteristics of 124gr but need more time- that said its preference and doesnt correlate to quantifiable improvement.

Of the four ammo types you listed and the parameters you set, the the Federal 147 grain. I prefer this weight in 9mm for deeper penetration although I would be content with the Speer 124 grain as well. I’ve used, on duty, 155 grain Federal JHP and 180 grain Federal HST in .40 S&W and now 147 grain Winchester Ranger in 9mm.

    I'd take the CD.

Its Hornady, so it wont be really hot. Reduced flash, good feed profile, doesn't expand bigly so penetrates well. And if it's cheaper even better.

From what you listed, I carry the 124gr +P Gold Dot. I also carry Winchester’s 124gr bonded PDX1 load and have in the past carried Winchester’s 127gr +P+ Ranger T load.

If I were back on patrol I’d probably opt for the 127+p+ but the Gold Dot isn’t giving up a lot to it.

Would any of you have an issue carrying a standard pressure 124 grain load for the same duty role?
