    LPVO BUIS prototype

    Hey Shooters,

I rock an LPVO with a non QD mount. The idea of putting irons on a gun; that I couldnt even access without a tool always seemed silly at best. I know there are the 45* off set irons. I got the inspiration from the ACOG that has integrated BUIS on the top. This design is supposed to be comperable to pistol sights in use. Currently I have it modeled for 3D printing, but could make some minor adjustments and have it ready for production. Let me know if this is something you would be interested in or not.

Interesting idea, Elcan puts BUIS on some of their scope covers too.

I don't use scopes myself, but good luck--and as an aside are you using Solidworks or something else? Engineering student in a former life, still dabble with CAD occasionally and looking for something to replace Draftsight Free which they're killing at end of year.
You really have to ask why Conservatives have guns? Because Liberals block freeways, burn cities, throw Molotov cocktails, loot, turn over cop cars, and think this behavior is Socially Acceptable.

I like the concept. Very interesting.
In no way do I make any money from anyone related to the firearms industry.

Nice, I know kac has a design very similar to this that can be mounted on their top rings for their mounts now.

How tall do the sights have to be to see over the turret and/or objective?? Surly higher than illustrated.

    2 things:
—I'm going to speculate that the rings have to be mounted in an orientation that a) clears the turrets, and b) leaves enough room for the scope mount.
—A ghost ring rear sight would be a good option IMO.

If it is mounted on the scope tube anyway but straight up it isn't going to be much of a sight at any distance other than one. I guess at point blank range it wouldn't matter but neither would not having sights at all. Adjustable offset sights built with the correct geometry can't be beat if you need to go back and forth between scope and irons.

It's an interesting idea, and thanks for sharing it. Tagged to follow. As others have mentioned ACOG offers irons with less than that sight radius, so ...

It's a good idea. I think this would work better than a handgun because of the superior stability that a rifle offers.

I like it; I would certainly consider this as a BUIS option over some of the 45 degree offsets that either stick out all the time or need to be deployed/flipped up

As stated, I don't think the ring needs to be that big so one can work around shorter (think NF NX8/NXS) optics and the mount without having the pain of remounting the optic.

I would run mine offset to avoid the turrets and still maintain a cheekweld. Ghostring is overkill...KISS and keep em like good pistol irons.
