Midweight 16-inch Barrels

I would say just get a noveske barrel, but those are ~400

ETA: Looks like primary arms has one for $440. It does come with a gas block and gas tube so you save about $50-60 on that alone.

The MPR barrel profile is what I had in mind. It also comes in at a reasonable weight of ~31 oz. Many barrels that I found were in the range of 35 to 40 oz.

I used mine two different evenings this last week to ping 2MOA steel targets out to 500 yards without issue, then silhouettes at 600 and 700 yards. I was shooting 69gr TMK handloads. At one point, I shot the 8" plate at 400 and the 6" plate hanging beside it, before moving onto a 10" plate at 500, 11.5" wide silhouette at 600, and the same silhouette at 700. It's a great general use/ lighter weight precision barrel. That particular rifle has a 3x9 power Vortex HS on it.

With your budget, check out the BCM SS 16" 5.56 Recce with mid-length gas. I've run one of these for the last 4 years and the accuracy is awesome.

Good to hear. I'm still piecing together a rifle for my MPR barrel.

I just put together an upper with this barrel from Ballistic Advantage. Visually it's a very handsome stainless barrel with the dark parkerized A2 front sight attached. I have shot it only a few times but it is meeting my every expectations along with the way it looks and shoots. kwg
