I'd be more than impressed of someone on TOS wore out a semi auto lower reciever.

It's probably people just trying to justify their KNS purchase; which is a solution looking for a problem. The only time I have ever heard of lower recievers actually having this issue is when they are select fire, and have had multiple generations of boots behind them.

EDIT: And as other posters have pionted out: the .mil units that run mk18's on full auto (or burst at the minimuim) and do TONS of training before a deployment dont seem to point out this issue. I find that civilians often make a freak occurance into a normal problem without ever shooting a single round. Must be an internet thing. To really finish this all off; even if 10.5's did break parts more, how many rounds did you actually fire before anything broke? 5k, 10k, 20k, 50k (yes there are AR's with 50K on them)? If I was a civilian shooting THAT much ammo, I would just have a whole new gun sent out with the pallet. If I was in the .mil still, I would walk up to the armorer, and tell them: "shits broke, need new one".

I'm curious as to the round counts people are getting before major problems (like cracked bolts, egged receivers, etc.) start occurring.
Heaviest buffer with a Sprinco blue spring that will reliably cycle is my method for anything I don't run the A5 system on.

I have not experienced any egging of the takedown pin holes in any of my lowers, but the first 11.5" upper I owned has some egging on the holes in the upper receiver. It was a PD trade in 6933 upper with an unknown round count when I got it. It was $300 and came with a KAC rear folding sight and a Daniel Defense drop in quad rail. I put about 8,000 rounds of steel case ammo through it before it started to keyhole. Unknown total round count, but I replaced the gas rings in the bolt when I got it, and again around the 5000 round mark after it failed the test of standing it on the face of the bolt and seeing if the gas rings will hold it up. This upper has some slop on every lower I have, and it's my main shooter so it's seen 90% of my shooting. I wasn't able to find a 11.5" Colt barrel in stock at the time, so I replaced it with a BCM BFH 11.5" that is working well for me.

5,000 rounds to replace the bolt rings? Refresh my memory but that's what, about half the life of the rings in a gun with a longer barrel? (Am I remembering that correctly)?

The set I put in when I got it were no name gas rings that I picked up at the gun store so that may have led to them going south so soon. The set that replaced them I ordered from Grant and are still ticking along and pass the standup test.

I don't think I am finished here. I made a pretty damn mild comment, and you decided to attack, not the concept I proposed, me personally.
To prove your dick much larger than mine, you presented irrefutable evidence by way of "everyone knows that" and an anacdotal tale of the brutal way your 10.5 upper absolutely destroyed a set of gas rings (generally considered a wear item) after firing 5000 rounds of ammunition.
I wore out two (2) sets of gas rings firing less than 2000 rounds of M193 with a 16" carbine. The second set was from BCM.
Now we have both provided data points of questionable use.
Certainly you are no piker and most AR owners, myself included, will not wear out even a single barrel. To be clear, I am not casting even a shadow of doubt on your experience or compentency.
I do have to say, though, that the online persona you display causes me to picture you leaning against a gun store counter surrounded by neckbeard admirers as you regale them with tales of how you have not just been there, but have the t-shirt to prove it. You, sir, have done what I thought no one could - you made me strongly rethink my position on abortion just as I am sure your mother has reconsidered hers.

Holy shit, I really got you in your feelings didn't I? If you can't handle mild internet discourse you may want to log off permanently.

Honestly, I don't worry about it. I have spare parts and spare lowers for when stuff breaks or wears out. YMMV.
