    Need guidance for basic suppressor

A guy at work turned to me for suppressor advise. I have no interest interest in them and never read up or studied them so I said I'd ask around.

This guy is not a gun guy. He's not going to be training or doing drills. Probably not even going to be shooting it a lot. It's just something for occasional fun. It would be going on a Ruger 10/22 .22lr

    Price range max $400

The local gun store has the following...
    Yankee Hill
    GemTech
    Ruger
    SilencerCo
    AAC

Out of that list, I’d buy an AAC Halcyon.

But my first options would be other brands, like a Dead Air Mask.

I have the Silencerco Specter II , really like it. But I cant compare to others.

    It is slightly heavier.

AAC out of that list, I bought Surefire Ryder. One consideration, some .22 cans can shoot only Long Rifle, others can shoot 22mag. He may not care but that is probably something to consider.

    ...and discontinued.

(I have three. Love them. Maybe he could find one in stock?)

...and related to that, most 22LR only cans are aluminum baffles, which limits cleaning options. I’d buy a 22LR/22Mag/17HMR can simply because it almost guarantees something other than aluminum baffles.

I have a Silencerco Sparrow so that’s what I’ll recommend. It’s compact, can be easily broken down for cleaning and is rated all the up to .22 Hornet. I use mine on both 10/22’s and a S&W Victory.

I have a pair of Dead Air Mask cans bought on BigWaylon's recommendation, and love them. Easy to clean and use.

I have a Specter and a Mask. I think they're both great but I lean toward the Mask due to shorter overall length. I didn't know the Specter was DC'd but that makes the choice easy.
