    What rifles are "drop safe"?

    Are HK's? (94, G3, etc.)

The Beretta ARX100 has a drop-safe mechanism but I dont know if it protects against all types of impact / drop.
Same goes for the Beretta Cx4.

    I don't think AR's or AK's are "drop safe".

    Any other info?

How are you defining "drop safe?"

"Almost certainly" not going to fire If dropped or knocked off a table or similar.

Essentially, not firing, whether or not on "safe", at any angle onto a hard surface from 5 ft.

A level of drop safe one would expect from a modern quality pistol.

Interesting approach to a purchase. Any quality non Mickey mouse firearm should be drop safe. However; Sig, and their garbage QC, recently proved with their p320 that is not always true.

No purchase planned. Just FYI safety stuff.

Talking rifles and I guess shotguns.

Things like AR's, AK's, 870's, 590's and other popular weapons are NOT designed to be "drop safe" to my knowledge.(handguns are)

So, I wonder, what long guns are?

This reminds me of a statement by Jeff Cooper many moons ago. My S&W 1006 came with the factory straight backstrap, that was shown - if dropped at JUST the right angle - to occasionally discharge if impacting a hard surface.

To which LTC Cooper wrote in his Gun & Ammo column - "Don't go around dropping $750 handguns on the deck!"

S&W sent me a curved backstrap replacement, which I didn't like and didn't fit my hand. I kept the straight backstrap, and just never dropped the gun in 12 years of daily carry!

And as regards a rifle, a good sling, should prevent any 'drop-sies' while deploying it

Assuming they have original factory triggers, most military pattern rifles are drop safe. But then everybody whines about the heavy trigger pull and changes them out.

IIRC, Geissele 2-stage triggers are designed to be drop safe by virtue of the extensive sear overlap necessitated by the takeup of the first stage of a 2-stage trigger. Someone please correct me if this is incorrect.

The 320 met all the industry norms for “drop safe,” before the internet melted. After the one specific issue was found, they fixed that too. The pistol now exceeds all the standards it can be measured against, save emotions on the internet.

I’m sure HK appreciates the internet finding a new whipping boy. I am always curious as to how many Sig and HK haters have actually owned any of those products or interacted with those companies. I own less than some, but more Sigs and HKs than most people. The products have been solid and customer service has been fine too. Maybe if they gave people a crappy hat, some condiments, and other assorted BS they would have more forum support. I’ve been happy with the guns and haven’t needed more.

As to the OP, there’s always going to be some dolt to prove you wrong, but most guns will survive a fall off the table.

If you're defining, "drop safe," as possessing a firing pin safety: The HK416 and HK417 have firing pin safeties.

Most other rifles have floating firing pins or spring-loaded firing pins and rely on mil-spec hard primers to prevent the rifle from going, "boom," when it is not desired.

SiG also insisted that it didn't have a problem, until video evidence was posted that the problem existed. And they immediately had a fix for it, which suggests that either SiG knew about the problem and lied about it, or they have hyper-competent engineers capable of nearly instantly developing fixes for hitherto totally unknown issues (why those engineers couldn't design a gun without the problem in the first place with such hyper competence is unknown to me).
