    Aimpoint T1 thread damage repair

So, I picked up a T1 in trade and unfortunately due to the previous owner being a retard one of the mounting holes was stripped.

So I contact Aimpoint hoping I can send it in for repair possibly. No go unfortunately. However they suggested I contact Robar as they’ve been working on a fix by milling a stainless steel dovetail into the base of the sight and tapping it for the factory screws.

I called and emailed but sadly no response.

So, I asked Aimpoint about tapping the sight base for a larger screw. They said that’d work just don’t go to deep as there is only a paper thin sheet of aluminum beyond the base of the holes.

The factory screws are m3x4mm. The replacement screw I made work is m4x5mm. Pretty straightforward process.

Yup. Loctited everything together so she’s good to go.

As a retard who has done this, Aimpoint simply replaced my T1 no questions asked. Good fix, tho

Yea, low key I was hoping they’d do me a solid lol. They probably got tired of replacing optics.

Obviously they made improvements on the t2

From what I understand the T2’s have steel inserts. Does the screw you have pictured work with whatever mount you’re using?

They probably would with a little work. I’m using a lt660 mount and had to open the hole slightly on the mount to accommodate the replacement screw

Huh. I'd be kind of pissed that Aimpoint wouldn't cover that. Clearly it was a known weak point in the design since they changed it with the revised model.

Yeah - but knowing your luck, you would get a defective T-2 / H-2 / Comp M5 if you ever purchase one!
