    Aimpoint PRO

Since my last post looking for info on the Leupold Freedom RDS mostly came up dry, I've begun to think maybe a Aimpoint PRO might be the way to go. The Aimpoint seems to get good reviews but finding a good deal on one is tough, So where does one look to get that deal of a life time that you heard was last week? Fixed incomes SUCK!
    Thanks, 5shank

Buy from Geissele, you get the sight with their mount for the same price as a OEM Pro with their mount - which isn't bad, but the big arse knob is annoying.

Doesn't look like a bad deal and I agree on the knob, Sure would be fun talking to the guy that thought that one up!

Watch the EE on this site. You’ll come across some hard to beat deals, if patient.

If I were looking for a new red dot and mount myself, though, I’d probably do this:

Unless you really want a 30mm RDS, I'd go with a Sig Romeo 5 or whatever it's called. I truly like that RDS over the PRO I had.

    And they're usually like $150.

How's the Sig Romeo 5 holding up? Would you trust it in a fight?

I have Aimpoint T1, PRO, & CompM2. I also have Bushnell TRS25 & Sig Romeo5. The rifles set up for Zombies & whatnot have Aimpoint or Trijicon....the lower end blasters get the inexpensive ones. Not overly hard on them, but haven't broken a TRS25 or Romeo5 yet. I kind of like how the Romeo5 is "always on" if you want it that way. For $120 incl mount it's a fine budget optic IMO.

FWIW I have 3 Romeo 5's installed but none have seen a lot more than generic range trips or ~800-1,000 rds each at most. None older than ~18 months. Some general handling bumps in/out of safe, in/out of bags & vehicles, mild bumps like falling over, but no severe trauma to any. With that basic kind of use, they're holding up well, working, maintaining zero. I wouldn't go as far as to say "as good as...." but nothing wrong with them
