Watch Marines train with 'Squad X, DARPA's team of autonomous robot battle buddies

Hot on the heels of the Marine Corps's head-to-toe overhaul of infantry rifle squads, a handful of grunts at the Air Ground Combat Center at Twentynine Palms, California recently conducted field testing alongside a handful of autonomous surrogate vehicles engineered by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's (DARPA) Squad X Experimentation program.

If I were the USMC, I might start worrying if the next gen battle buddy looks like this:

Experience is a cruel teacher, gives the exam first and then the lesson.

In comparison to the sum of our greatest fears these "battle buddies" are unarmed tame intelligence gatherers sending back ground radar scans as well as overwatch live film to the units they are attached with. So far they are leaving the trigger pulling in the hands of the flesh bags.

Most importantly can the robots track down missing serialized gear so that way entire battalions aren’t held up from weekend liberty?

It’s nice that these robots can scout and do stuff like that, but Pfc. ****knuckles loses his NODS way more often than he sees the enemy. So it would be awesome if the robots can search for missing gear, that way Pfc. ****knuckles can enjoy his weekend of getting stupid tattoos, marrying a stripper, buying a car at 25% APR, and then getting a DUI on the way back to the post.

    Asking the real questions...
What if this whole crusade's a charade?
And behind it all there's a price to be paid

    I am unimpressed.

That Russian robot is not squatting like a true Slav. It’s not screaming Cyka Blyat!. Nor is it wearing an Adidas track suit, or drinking vodka. There wasn’t even any hard bass music in the video.

That is the second reference to missing 10mm sockets in i’ve Seen in 24 hours... something special?
The Second Amendment ACKNOWLEDGES our right to own and bear arms that are in common use that can be used for lawful purposes. The arms can be restricted ONLY if subject to historical analogue from the founding era or is dangerous (unsafe) AND unusual.

    It's that simple.
