BCM Comp Mod 0 - “designed to reduce...flash signature” ....?

Swapped the T2 for the ACOG and went to a range I don’t typically frequent to zero it. Normally I shoot outside uncovered. It’s bright and there are no walls. I noticed my 10.5” got a little louder when I swapped the A2 for the BCM Mod 0, but the recoil reduction was worth it.

This place was the opposite. Dark. Covered. Concrete walls.

Wow! People were getting angry. It was loud. Tons of flame. I cannot imagine any comp (Battlecomp, FSC556, etc) performing worse than this.

Is this normal?

I've never seen a fireball like that before, but I've only had them on 14.5s. It definitely feels compy if you're to the side of it. Not SF muzzlebrake level, but you can feel it.

I tried one and removed it almost right away for the reasons you posted. I don't believe MBs have any place beyond that of a suppressor mount for serious guns, and the BCM is pretty "brakey".

You want flash management on a shorty, get a Fortis Control Shield or a BFD, or a BRT Covert Comp.

Thats pretty bright. The way manufacturers get away with saying their comps reduce flash is that they reduce flash compared to a bare muzzle. I’m not saying you’re going to eliminate flash on a 10.5”, but you can reduce it a great deal with a purebred flash suppressor.

Ironic i had to remove my BCM Mod 0 comp because it is advertised as a flash hider in People's Republik of Kalifornia. Thus, not kosher on featureless AR..
