OK, I have zero experience with the Colt double spring set up. But, I've been running the Wilson flatwire with short guide rod in my well tested Colt .38 super for more than 2000 rounds and I really like it. Very smooth and consistent recoil stoke when hand cycling. So far excellent reliability.
Springfield puts some goofy GR and plug in their TRP's and God knows whatever else. I change mine out after first range session. Either will probably work, but I like tried and true YMMV.

So we do need a new guide rod for the single spring setup?
I’ll make sure to add one to my spring order when the time comes.
