Remember this when some clown says people disrespecting the flag should be beaten

I can't count the times I've seen some try-hard virtue-signaling ultra-patriot recommend violence for minor transgressions regarding the flag, anthem, etc.

Well this guy fractured a 13 year old's skull when the kid didn't remove his hat for the national anthem. It's like all the worst part of internet forums is coming to life lately.

What's worse, he has a prior assault with a weapon charge, and he was released anyhow.

What's worse is, "A Mineral County man has been killed by onlookers after slamming a child to the ground during the national anthem at the Mineral County fairgrounds." wasn't the first paragraph.

Part of me agrees with you, and part of me wonders if that is the exact attitude that led some idiot to generate the headline that was used. By definition, a civilized society must find a decent halfway point between tolerating crime and tolerating mob violence against perceived criminals. Look up witch burnings in modern day Africa for one bad end of this. When it seems that the USA has both bad extremes without the middle, I ask if we are no longer civilized.

    This is also bad:

The state requested his bond be set to $100,000, however the judge ruled Brockway can be released on his own recognizance. Brockway had not been released as of 5 p.m. on Monday.

This is not Brockway’s first run in with police. He pleaded guilty to an assault with a weapon charge that occurred in 2011.

I noticed someone said he was released, he was OR'ed, he dang near killed the kid and he was OR'ed. The judge should be removed from the bench.

I suffered bilateral temporal fractures in an accident - it permanently impacted my balance with my eyes closed or even in complete darkness. I hope this young man is affected as much.

I had to 'fly' off a roof onto a concrete driveway to fracture mine, so I'm sure the guy was just kidding around with the kid. Bullshit. He needs to be in jail.

Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the President... - Theodore Roosevelt, Lincoln and Free Speech, Metropolitan Magazine, Volume 47, Number 6, May 1918.

Every Communist must grasp the truth. Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun. Our principle is that the Party commands the gun, and the gun must never be allowed to command the Party Mao Zedong, 6 November, 1938 - speech to the Communist Patry of China's sixth Central Committee

I wouldn't have had an issue with it if someone had punched his ticket immediately.

After surrendering, or if there was some doubt as to who committed the act, then no.

Makes me suspect he may be a connected member of that community.

What a ****ing dipshit. Reminds me of all the self appointed "stolen valor" enforcers.

People may not agree, but part of "freedom" is the freedom to be a complete douchebag and not know how to act during the national anthem. Much as a person might wish to do so, even taking the hat off for some dipshit kid is over the line.

Unless you are related, a polite reminder like "Hey kid, you are supposed to take your hat off when they play the national anthem" is really all anyone is entitled to. Be prepared to have the kid tell you to FO and mind your own business.

Also not taking your hat off doesn't even come close to disrespecting the flag in terms of levels of offensive behavior, it's still probably below talking on your phone in a restaurant. Most kids probably don't know better because their parents were f'in idiots and you aren't going to get a kid to understand or appreciate anything by being a jackass about it.

When I was in the 6th grade me and another kid got assigned to go take the flag down after class. We had no idea what we were doing and only knew it shouldn't touch the ground. A parent with a lot of patience actually got out of his car and not only helped us to stop screwing it up, but actually took the time to teach us how to fold it properly and did it in a friendly way. That was really all it took.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.
